The Players: Gryphon

Name: Gryphon

Age: 7 years

Breed: Pit bull mix, called a "Boxer/Lab" in polite company.

Origins: The Guelph Humane Society. Five week old baby Gryph was abandoned on the highway with another pup. I adopted him at ten weeks. Gryphon's pound name was Luke.

Nicknames: Gryph, Grypher, Big Man, Chub-a-lub, Marble Cake, Old Man

Likes: Tennis balls, stealing toys from other dogs, chasing bunnies, riding in the car with the window down, playing fetch in the water, spooning, sleeping under the covers, laser pointers, sniffing all the bones and toys at the pet store, cats, wrestling with other dogs (quite noisily), and long walks off-leash in the woods.

Tricks: Sit, stay, lie down, leave it, drop it, play dead, shake, speak, sneak (crawling across the floor), and come here. He also knows the words walk, park, hungry, bunnies, go pee, cookie, and who's here?

Embarrassing Habits: Farting in mixed company, humping (only) male dogs, taking enormous dumps on his toys if he doesn't want you to have them, whimpering when he isn't the center of attention, bunting strangers in the crotch, and staring at visitors while they eat.

Points of Interest: Gryphon has had his Acute Cruciate Ligament repaired in his right back knee (to the tune of $1500). He will not get on the couch without being "invited", he will put his head on the cushion and wait until you tell him to hop up. When we had chinchillas and guinea pigs, he would lie quietly on the floor while they played and even climbed on top of him. Gryphon sometimes wags his tail in his sleep.
